Anti Radicalisation

You will need to register when you click through the link below. We ask you to complete this course before approval but if you are yet to complete, please do so. This training is provided by the home office

FGM

To take this course with the home office you will need to register once you click through to this site. We ask you to complete this course before approval but if you are yet to complete, please do so. This training is provided by the home office

GDPR

If you have not completed the GDPR course before being approved then this is the place to go – to complete it. We have tried to make it as relevant as possible for you as a Foster Carer. It consists of a series of short videos, reflections and a quiz and will take around 20 minutes to complete.

National Minimum Standards

Take our in-house National Minimum Standards Course – This course needs to be competed once, within 6 months of your approval

Delegated Authority

Take our in-house Delegated Authority Course – This course needs to be competed once, within 6 months of your approval

Administering Medication

We have some guidance that explains the importance of things like storing medicine, administering medication and the recording of this. The document is available on CHARMS for you to sign. Click this link to go to CHARMS and then sign in, where you will find the document to read and sign

Recording & Risk Assessment/ Assessing Risk

We ask that you complete this within 6 months of your approval. You will be enrolled by your team administrator who will send you your log in details. This course is with our partners at KCA

These courses need to be completed within 6 months of your approval and then updated every 3 years

Digital World (Main Carer)

The Digital World we all live in, develops at a rapid pace and as such so will this course. We only ask our main carers to complete the face to face course every 3 years as we sporadicly release an update through video for our second carers to watch and complete, so this can be done in your own time. Attachment

An understanding of Attachment is so important for so many reason – with the field changing and different techniques and experienced gained, we ask you to renew this vital course every 3 years. Follow this link to book on to upcoming Attachment training course. If you are having Clinical Practitioner sessions with a therapist, your Supervising Social Worker will advise you on an alternative way to complete this.

Impulsive Behaviour / De-escalation

We ask all carers to complete at least Impulsive Behaviour training which is online. Some carers will also be asked to complete De-escalation, which is face to face. Your local team will inform you of this. To take the online course, please click here and log in to KCA with the details you have been provided

Child Protection

We ask you to renew this training on child protection every 3 years as its so crucial to keeping the most vulnerable young people in society safe, by following this link you will be taken to KCA to complete the course, using the log in details provided to you

Safe Care

You will be enrolled in this course by your local team. The course is online with KCA and by following the link you will be taken to their website where you will need to log in with the details provided to you

Managing Allegations

This vital training is a 2 hour face to face course, to remind you the different ways to keep safe. We ask you to renew it so you are always aware and update to any changes and best practice. Clicking the link will take you through to book the next upcoming course

First Aid

We ask you to complete First Aid when it expires, usually every 3 years. We will run sporadic first aid courses in house but if you require first aid outside fo this time, the St Johns website shows upcoming courses. When we run a course, your local administrator will be in touch

This is only for our second carers, this is a snapshot of the information you need to know to keep your young people safe. You are more than welcome to attend the face to face course every 3 years. Once you have completed this course, please make sure to let your Supervising Social Worker know
