Foster Care in Buckinghamshire

Home to more National Trust properties than any other county in England, with a rich blend of cultural and historical attractions, stunning countryside, and vibrant towns and cities, Buckinghamshire is a place where peaceful surroundings meet incredible inner-city opportunities – making it an inspiring place for people of all ages and from all walks of life.

Covering the area from the outskirts of London to the West, up towards Milton Keynes and the Midlands, Buckinghamshire is next to Oxfordshire and offers the same high standard of living and connectivity to London as its neighbouring county. What makes Buckinghamshire so popular, however, is the diverse landscape which diffuses its proximity to London with the presence of countryside, woodland, and the Chiltern Hills – which makes up around a third of the county’s land.

For families, the major draw of Buckinghamshire is the commuter potential, allowing workers to travel to and from the surrounding cities while enjoying the more peaceful way of life at home. And it’s this mix of opportunity and safe, quiet surroundings which makes Buckinghamshire such a great place to house foster children.

From the young children who need the love and support of a steady family environment, to the teenagers who are craving the safety of a place that they can call home, becoming a foster parent means a lot more than simply offering a child or young people a bed. It means immersing them in your life, opening up your surroundings to them, and enabling them to grow and develop with the potential and support of a surrogate parent figure.

Here at Blue Sky Fostering we operate across the main counties in the South and Southwest, sourcing homes for the thousands of children who are passed into our local fostering system every year. From sibling groups to young children, teenagers, and those who require extra care and support, we have a range of fostering types to suit all families – and we’re always on the lookout for foster carers who can join our network and make a lasting difference.

This is Lee and Karen’s story.

“Fostering is the best decision we’ve ever made. Every day, a new challenge, exciting challenges.”

Before fostering, Lee had worked a number of different jobs. While none of those specific jobs nurtured the necessary skills to become a foster carer, he had spent his childhood helping to raise his younger brother and knew he had the right levels of empathy and care to make a difference in a young child’s life.

Fostering became a way of harnessing those same feelings and gave Lee and Karen a level of happiness they couldn’t have imagined.
