DUKE OF EDINBURGH EXPEDITION 2023

Molly Lloyd, Participation Coordinator in Dorset writes:

“Seven incredible young people returned home from their 3-day expedition in the New Forest last week. Here is a little about how our journey altogether went:

The expedition began Monday morning with lots of ice breakers, planning and shopping before heading out to the beautiful New Forest to pitch up tents, organise kit and route plan for the days ahead. This year saw our second cohort of Silver participants as well as a brand-new group of Bronze participants all working together to complete all the objectives needed for the expedition.

Everyone worked so well together, and I couldn’t be prouder of how each young person conducted themselves while out on this expedition. I’m not exaggerating when I say their behaviour was outstanding and a huge credit to everyone who supports them.

Our young people commented that they loved being able to spend time together, enjoyed cooking their own meals and that the forest scenery was beautiful! Being out in the forest gave us all a chance to rest and reflect, even whilst being active and engaged.

As with all activities, this one took a lot of planning, and I could not be more grateful to everyone involved who supported one another throughout the expedition. I want to thank -  not only the young people who took part and created such a special few days -  but also my colleagues Tiffany Jones, Sophie Amy, Emma Harris, Chris Carty and Ed Thompson, and our amazing foster carer Andy Taylor who all gave up their time to come and join this years expedition. I hope they all enjoyed it as much as I did!

The Duke of Edinburgh award is run agency wide and is massively adaptable. As always, if you have any young people you think may be interested in signing up or if you would like some further information, please do contact Blue Sky to find out more.“
