It is the role of Blue Sky and your foster carers to try and help keep you safe, but it is also down to you to make decisions on what you do every day. If you follow this guide, you will go a long way to keeping yourself safe

Mobiles / Tablets and Laptops

A Blue Sky rule is that phones and tablets do not go into the bedroom at night when you are going to sleep. if you stare at a phone screen before bed, your brain starts to go into busy mode and that’s not a good state for getting some well needed rest. The blue light that phones and screens emit, also trick your brain into thinking its day tine. So your carers might ask you to leave your phone or tablet outside of your room, they will do this respectfully thought and its important you understand you are not being treated differently to anyone else

You might have moved to a new area where you don’t know people and its understandable that you will want to make friends, but your carers will know the area best, so stick to their rules and guidance. They will let you know the times you need to come in, will ask where you are going and they have a responsibility to let Blue Sky know if you do not return at the agreed time. But remember, as much as this might be difficult, they are doing this because them and us have your best interests at the centre of everything that we do. That is why Blue Sky Fostering and your Foster Carers are here

Each house will have different rules, but some rules will be the same for each house. It’s important people have personal space and some rooms might be private (places like bedrooms) but your carers will tell you about this. its also important to wear things like dressing gowns when walking around the house and coming out of the shower. Your Foster Carers will make sure they do the same as well. These things are important, to keep you and your carers safe

We have run groups with young people to find out how they feel about the digital world, so we can better train our Foster Carers. They have told us they feel pressure to keep up with influencers online but also how bullying online causes them to feel down. We will do all we can to train our Foster Carers on how to help you but we also want you guys to feel you can talk to us if you need to. So if you are struggling with something online, talk to your foster carer or someone at Blue Sky. On the same note though, we would never want you to feel like you need to pick or abuse someone online. If you want to talk about these things, make sure you do
