Become a Foster Carer

Tim Kane

Senior Practitioner

My role is to support and supervise Foster Carers who provide placements to children on the TLC 12 Plus programme. I most enjoy the direct work and interaction with young people as well as supporting carers to provide a stable placement which directly impacts on the outcomes of the children and young people they care for. The best thing about working for Blue Sky is the collaboration and holistic approach amongst young people, carers and the Blue Sky teams.

Prior to starting with Blue Sky, I had worked for a local authority since 2007. During my time with this local authority, I worked in a residential placement with Looked After Teenagers. My most recent role with that local authority was in an assessment team which provided support to children with disabilities and their families. I have experience of Looked After Children, Child in Need Assessments, Child Protection, SEN/EHC Plans and preparing court reports.

Prior to this, I worked at a respite placement for children with boplacementional needs and behavioural and emotional difficulties. During my two placements whilst studying, I spent 6 months working with Blue Sky based in Ringwood. I also had 6 months with Dorset Probation supervising adults that posed a high level of risk to others including children. Whilst growing up, my family provided both long term and short term assessment foster placments over a period of 10 years. I am still in contact with some of those who lived with us especially Dawn, who along with her own family, is very much part of mine.
