I work within the Thereapuetic Led Care service and I support carers during weekly reflective practice sessions. These sessions provide an opporutnity for carers to reflect on their young person’s behaviours, strengths and difficulties. We try to understand behaviours with regards to psychological theory particularly attachment theory and we consider therapeutic ways of responding. Carers and I work together to explore how carers can offer nurture and build relationships with their children and young people. Seeing how relationships change and flourish between children, young people and their carers is a very rewarding part of my role.
I am a therapist who has an interest in working with young people, I have previously worked within the Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service and a young person’s charity providing counselling. I have also provided intensive family and parenting support within my role as Family Worker at my local authority.
Outside of my Clinical Practitioner role I am kept busy and entertained with my two young wonderful daughters. I also have a passion for yoga and have been known to lead mindfulness and relaxation exercises for both carers and colleagues and have even got them to experiment with a yoga pose here and there!
