Brave cyclist Ben Arnett is taking on the challenge of a lifetime and will be cycling between all eight of Blue Sky Fostering’s offices, covering a total distance of 500 miles in just 5 days, all in aid of charity.

The agency’s offices span 5 counties across the south and the longest day of cycling will involve a 135 mile journey from Ringwood in Hampshire to Ivybridge in Devon.

Ben, who was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes at the age of 13, embarks on the challenge on Monday 24th September starting in Chatham, Kent and will be cheered on by his girlfriend Sophie, a Blue Sky Social Worker, at the Portslade office.

Ben, from Shoreham-by-Sea, is raising funds for two charities, The Childs i Foundation and Diabetes UK.

The Childs i Foundation is supported yearly by Blue Sky Fostering and helps find homes for abandoned children in Uganda by building support systems and repurposing orphanages in communities so that every child grows up safe in a loving family.

Sophie is travelling out to visit the charity this October to share her skills as a social worker and to see first-hand how the funds raised from the cycle will be put to use.

Ben is also on a personal mission to raise funds for Diabetes UK and prove that living with the condition doesn’t mean you can’t push yourself to your limits!

Diabetes UK is the leading charity for people affected by diabetes. From care and support to prevention, campaigning, fundraising and research, Diabetes UK is tackling the fastest-growing health threat in the UK.

Ben’s epic journey will finish at Blue Sky’s Basingstoke office where he will be greeted by family, friends and many of the agency’s staff and fostering families.

His training and journey can be tracked via his Strava page www.strava.com/athletes/19582183.
