Blue Sky Fest 2022… back and better than ever!

Blue Sky Fest

The annual Blue Sky festival has kicked into action, food is bubbling, bouncy castles are jumping and the sumo suits are challenging the best of the best. You can hear children laughing as they stroke miniature ponies at the petting zoo, and serious thinking occurs as they decide which face paint to get, a butterfly or a cat?

As the pandemic has limited how we interact with people, this time spent with our Blue Sky community becomes even more valuable to us. Old friends can reconnect, and new friendships are formed, of all ages. Foster carers, staff and children of all backgrounds are brought together through new and exciting activities such as laser quest, giant Jenga, oh and don’t forget the slime shack!

We truly value the opportunity to support and connect with our Blue Sky Family, and with over 400 participants, the festival was in full flow! Providing games and activities for all the family, which were carefully selected by our young people’s voice panel of course, alongside a relaxation tent where our foster carers could unwind with a calming massage.

In addition to the brilliant performances and games, we like to highlight the amazing young people that make up the Blue Sky family by presenting a pair of awards in honour of two members who have sadly passed away; The Alex award for Creativity and Kindness and The Rianna Award for Persistence. Both winners received an £100 voucher alongside a £50 donation to a charity of their choosing, to ensure we give back to our community. These awards reflect just how amazing our young people really are and we are so proud of them.

And of course, none of these events would be possible without our amazing foster carers, who work incredibly hard to produce some fantastic outcomes for our young people. We want to thank you for all you do, you are inspirational.

Here’s what some of our incredible foster carers had to say after catching up with them:

“We had a great time at Blue Sky Fest. So nice to see everyone and all were having so much fun. Well done to everyone, we cannot wait for next year”

And another said:

“We had a magical day thanks to each and every one of you! I even had a massage!!! Thank you”

And we definitely agree with both of these, we cannot wait to see everyone again next year!
