“I’m fundraising for the fantastic ‘Save the Children’; a charity close to my heart as they provide children in the UK and around the world with the opportunities to learn and do whatever it takes for them to be protected from harm in times of need. They give children a brighter future.” Explains Becky, whose work as an ‘Individual Worker’ with the Blue Sky team in Ringwood, changes the lives of foster children in our care.
The marathon will take Becky past some of the most breath-taking scenery in the UK, with views along the amazing natural harbour at Poole, beautiful Bournemouth and the chance to run along both Boscombe and Bournemouth piers with a spectacular finish.
“The great thing about this event is that everyone can join in, no matter what their running ability, there are 8 races in total from the ‘Kid’s 1km’ to the full marathon.”
“From personal experience, I know how invaluable Save the Children’s presence can be. My siblings and I didn’t have the greatest start in life, but the support and care of others has helped me make the most of things and in turn, I am helping others.”
“Very sadly, my brother, John Sim, didn’t have the same opportunity or future. He passed away last June, so I am running in his memory and I really hope people will support me by making a donation, no matter how modest, it all helps save lives.”
“My wonderful foster parents, Charlotte and Martyn, close family friend, Teresa and my fiancé Leon have all helped me to be who I am today, so to them and to everyone who’s helped me, thank you.”
