Foster Care in Wiltshire
An idyllic place in the Southwest of England, with close proximity to London and the urban setting of Bristol, as well as the Southcoast and its surrounding countryside, Wiltshire is a place known for its typical English villages, its valleys and markets, and of course Wiltshire ham.
With a mix of both the quiet rural life and the more vibrant towns where opportunities come flooding in from the surrounding cities every day, Wiltshire is an inspiring place to raise a child – giving them the best of both worlds with a balanced lifestyle and some of the best education in the UK.
Within the boundaries of Wiltshire there are a total of 249 primary schools and 59 secondary schools, with 25 of those schools ranking as Outstanding through Ofsted. As well as the formal side of education, Wiltshire is a place which inspires those of all ages through its spectacular natural surroundings and vibrant but diverse collection of village and inner-town experiences.
But for many children in the surrounding towns and cities of Southwest England, life is not all rural experiences and chocolate box villages. For those who are facing the hardships of abandonment and maltreatment at the earliest stages of life, these opportunities are more out of reach than ever. That’s why we need your help, to house, support, and care for young people with nowhere to call home.
When you become a foster carer in Wiltshire, you join the Blue Sky Fostering network in one of its most diverse and inspiring locations. Whether you open your home to a group of siblings, a parent and child duo, or a teenager, by becoming a part of our network you are giving young people a place to feel safe in.
In March 2021, it was understood that there were around 57,380 children living with foster families across England, with a high concentration of both national and international young people situated in and around the rural areas surrounding the major cities. With Wiltshire a prime location from which to offer these children the best chance in life, we need people like you to open your heart and your home.
Could you join the Blue Sky network and change the life and future of a child in need?
This is Lee and Karen’s story.
“Fostering is the best decision we’ve ever made. Every day, a new challenge, exciting challenges.”
Before fostering, Lee had worked a number of different jobs. While none of those specific jobs nurtured the necessary skills to become a foster carer, he had spent his childhood helping to raise his younger brother and knew he had the right levels of empathy and care to make a difference in a young child’s life.
Fostering became a way of harnessing those same feelings and gave Lee and Karen a level of happiness they couldn’t have imagined.
