There is a high demand for foster carers in the UK, with around 8,500 more needing to be recruited throughout, and Brighton is one of the places with a very high demand! There are many children and young people in need of care in Brighton, with a particular need for carers who are prepared to foster older children. At Blue Sky Fostering we are calling on YOU to step forward.  

Brighton is the ideal location to foster children, with its long stretches of pebble beach, Brighton Pier with fairground attractions and numerous family activities such as the Sea Life Centre, Museums, Bowling and so much more, you’re sure to have plenty of fun with your foster child. Fostering in Brighton will allow you to see through the eyes of a child and will rekindle your love of the seaside resort.

Fostering in Brighton – What are the benefits?

So why would YOU want to start fostering in Brighton? Well, there are many benefits to a career in fostering. Firstly, you will have a supportive team helping you along each step of the way when you foster with Blue Sky. You will receive regular phone calls and visits from your social worker as often as you need. Your social worker will be available to you 24/7, every day of the year should you need them. You will also have the opportunity to meet other foster carers in the Brighton area so that you can share your experiences and grow your local support network.  

You would receive a weekly allowance, between £336 and £581 per week, per child. This would allow you to concentrate on improving your skills as a carer and not worry about the financial side of life. We wouldn’t expect you to work on your skills alone either as we provide extensive training courses to ensure you can meet any challenges ahead.  

Not only will you receive financial and emotional support, full training and a large support network, you also get 14 days paid respite per year so that you can take a break if you need it. Fostering in Brighton - How do you get started?

If you want to start your fostering career in Brighton, there are a few minimum requirements which you will need to meet. If you have a spare bedroom, availability to your foster child at all times and the right attitude, you might be just what we are looking for. Blue Sky Fostering are on Tier 1 for all local authorities in and around the Brighton area, meaning our carers have more opportunity to help and support local children and young people.  Our nearest office to Brighton in based in Portslade, West Sussex. We will be hosting an ‘Introduction to Fostering’ event in Portslade on Tuesday 10th November 2015, starting at 6pm and ending at 8pm.
