Assistant Director - TLC team

As Assistant Director for the TLC service, I am responsible for the day to day oversight of the TLC service. This includes approving referrals for carers, identifying carers in assessment who may be suitable to become TLC carers and delivering workshops to prepare them for their fostering journey. I also work with our Local Authorities to manage any issues that may arise in placement.

I really enjoy meeting potential carers in assessment, and getting to know them during TLC visits or when delivering TLC training, which helps me get to know the carers before they are approved. I also enjoy being a part of matching carers to referrals, finding what we hope is a really good match. One of my favourite bits, is seeing the young people when they come into the office and hearing how they are getting on and catching up with carers, hearing about the fantastic work they are doing!

At Blue Sky, the best thing is the team spirit! Across the team and at all levels there is a fantastic team spirit within Blue Sky, everyone is always willing to go the extra mile to help each other out.

I have worked in fostering for around 9 years now and have always worked in specialist, therapeutic fostering. I worked for a charity before joining Blue Sky and worked with children in the youth justice system in a fostering environment. I am a qualified social worker and also have a post graduate therapeutic qualification through studying at the Tavistock and Portman. Before working in fostering, I worked with adults who had experienced domestic abuse and/or sexaul assault.

My strengths lie in fast paced working, crisis intervention, assessment and risk management and for this reason I love the challenges and rewards that come with working in the therapeutic service here at Blue Sky. I joined Blue Sky as the Family Consultant on the TLC team, and since being here have also worked as Supervising Social Worker and Programme Manager.
