My role is to guide and support foster carers, helping them to provide the best foster experience possible through advising them on the law and social work systems, as well as helping with carers’ personal development and giving them practical advice on helping their children.
I’ve been with the agency for many years now and have had the pleasure of seeing many young people flourish into happy, productive young adults through the support of caring and dedicated foster carers.
I really like working with a team of friendly, caring and supportive colleagues.
Initially, I trained as a primary school teacher and taught as a supply teacher in London. Then my wife’s family needed a person to help with their building businss so I joined them and trained as a plumber, which I did for 10 years. Alongside this, my family fostered for West Sussex Local Authority. We then decided to live in Spain for a few years, where I ran my own plumbing business. On our return to the UK I landed a job as a social work assistant for Hampshire Local Authority, where part of my duties involved making the matches with Independent Foster Agencies. Through this I was in contact with Blue Sky and they made me an offer to transfer to them as a social work assistant and sponsored me through my social work degree with the Open University. I qualified in December 2014.
