During my last year at university in 2014 I was placed with Blue Sky Fostering as my final placement, upon graduation I was lucky enough to gain a full time role as supervising social worker with the company, and have been here since! In my role as supervising social worker I am responsible for supervising and supporting carers to achieve the best outcomes for young people. It is essential for supervising social workers to build relationships with foster carers and their families and become a reliable, available and professional source of support.
I particularly enjoy that my role revolves around relationship based work with foster carers, I can be working with people over a long period of time and we then go through the challenges and rewards together. Events are a great opportunity to interact with young people and carers and it’s a chance for us all to have fun together.
Blue Sky has a great family feel and I really value the team spirit within the company. I work with a great team of staff who are very supportive.
Previously my work has inculded working in supported accomodation for homeless young people, as a FIP worker in an early family intervention team as well as being a womens artisitc gymnastics coach for 5 years!
