I am a supervising social worker for carers in the Bristol and Swindon area, and I work together with them to make sure that their foster children’s placement works as well as possible. I also carry out initial home visits to people interested in becoming foster carers and deliver training to new and existing carers.
I most enjoy working with carers and children, carers groups and doing Blue Sky activities with everyone. There is a good ethos of working together across teams and other professionals, and a growing community spirit which includes the foster carers, their families and foster children.
Previously, I worked with service families in a voluntary role for a number of years and then raised my own daughters for a few years. I worked with homeless people and with another fostering agency while studying for my social work degree, and then worked in a Local Authority child protection duty team before joining Blue Sky.
